Accounts Assistant
The Australian Permanent Mission represents the interests of Australia in the inter-national organisations in Geneva, notably the World Trade Organisation, the United Nations and the Conference on Disarmament. The Mission occupies its own purpose-built, modern building in Grand Saconnex. Twenty locally employed staff provide administrative support to the same number of Australian diplomatic staff. To complete our Accounts & Personnel team of four we are recruiting an Accounts Assistant.
The duties of this important support role include:
- Accurate preparation, checking and payment of accounts (SAP);
- Cash management – collections, debts, petty cash;
- Maintenance of telephone & utility records, including payment of accounts;
- Management of a computerized attendance system;
Applicants should:
- have experience and skill in the administration and processing of accounts;
- possess good computer skills;
- be fluent in English and French (both written and spoken).

Principal duties
General Administration
-
Prepare, check and pay accounts within SAP.

Manage cashier functions, collection of revenue, debtors procedures, petty cash.

Prepare the annual Fringe Benefits Tax Report.

Maintain telephone and utility records and process payments.

Administer the Overseas Health programme, including translations, preparation of reports and processing of accounts.

Prepare monthly expenditure reports for Attached Agencies.

Assist in the annual stocktake of Chancery assets.

Provide backup on finance-related issues during absences of the Accountant.
Human Resources
-
Maintain the LES attendance register, leave and overtime records.

Participate in the work of other areas as required.
Selection Criteria
A. Experience and skill in the administration and processing of accounts within a formal framework. Familiarity with Australian Government accounting procedures and Swiss payment systems an advantage.
B. Excellent computer skills within the Microsoft environment. Experience with SAP an advantage.
C. Ability to work with limited direction, to set priorities, exercise initiative and meet deadlines.
D. Sound judgement, discretion and confidentiality.
E. Excellent interpersonal skills
F. Fluent English and French
