The Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva has an opening for a
Manager – Consular and Passports
Duties include:
• Management of passport issue to Australian nationals
• Provision of consular assistance to Australian nationals
• Notarial services
• Oversight of voting procedures for Australian elections
• Management of the Australian Mission’s reception services
Applicants must:
• Be able to work independently to achieve objectives
• Be able to understand and apply Australian procedures relating to consular and passport matters in the Swiss environment
• Possess excellent consultation, liaison and negotiation skills
• Be fluent in English and French

Starting salary: CHF 6,663 per month
Principal Duties
Consular, Passports & Reception
Manage the Australian Consulate-General’s Consular & Passports Section, within the framework of Swiss and Australian procedures.
• Manage passport and travel document issue to Australian nationals.
• Provide assistance and advice to Australian citizens in Switzerland.
• Provide notarial services.
• Develop and maintain a range of in-country contacts to ensure the effective delivery of consular services to Australians.
• Oversee voting procedures (Australian Federal and State elections).
• Provide advice and assistance to the Consul-General.
• Liaise with and report to the Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Operations Section in Canberra.
• Ensure public money and accountable documents are processed in accordance with financial regulations.
• Manage the provision of reception services to the Australian Mission, Geneva - including arranging hotel accommodation for visitors.
• Process DIAC approved visas for International Organisations and Foreign Government officials.
Human Resources
• Manage a small team, including through performance appraisal, personal development and training.
Participate in the work of other areas, as required.
