Emergency Passports

You will need to check with the countries you are travelling to/transiting through to determine if they will accept an Emergency Passport:

You must come in person to our office in Geneva to apply for an emergency passport. Emergency passports services are not available in Bern or Zurich at this time. Please plan to arrive any time between 9:00-11:00am and 2:00-3:30pm. To ensure a smooth visit, kindly let us know the day and time you expect to attend so we can book the appointment and inform the guard.

Please bring the following to the appointment:

  • Two recent, good quality passport-sized photos that meet the Photo Requirements
  • Any original ID documents you have that shows your name and/or photo
  • Proof of your current residential address – this can be a digital document which you can email to us
  • Bank card (compatible with online payments) to pay the Emergency Passport fee of AUD $217 (2024 Fee)

You will complete the application form and additional paperwork in our office at your appointment. The emergency passport can take up to 2 business days to process and will be issued with a validity of between 7-12 months (depending on your travel plans).

When the emergency passport is ready you can either:

  • Pay the Swiss postage fee (AUD $10.00 for normal registered mail or AUD $33.00 for Express next day registered mail) at the appointment. We can only send your passport to a Swiss address.
  • Collect in person.
  • Organise your own courier for possible same-day delivery within Switzerland using Swissconnect.
